Uppuveli & Nilaveli
More and more travellers are discovering Uppuveli and Nilaveli.
The scene here is much mellower than those in Arugam Bay. Folks in Nilaveli will say that the water in Uppuveli is not as clear as it is in Nilaveli, but Uppuvelians will be quick to point out the pleasure of their beach, in contrast to Nilaveli’s wide-open spaces. Either way, everyone loves Pigeon Island, a pretty island and reef 1km from Nilaveli that makes for a perfect snorkelling or diving day trip
